Hi...My name is Pam Starrett. I have been teaching, and learning from, wonderful students at South Coffeyville High School for 21 years. I have had met some very...er...challenging young people over the years, but as I look back, I remember one strand....love. I have to say this in light of that comment...when my mom passed away in late 2010, God loved me and healed me through my students.
I graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1981, and from Pittsburg State University in 1985 with a Bachelor's Degree in History, Military History, and Spanish. While in college I served in the Kansas National Guard, and upon graduation I went on active duty in the United States Army. I served as a Military Intelligence Officer at Ft. Huachuca Arizona, Ft. Hood, Texas, the Republic of Korea, and Ft. Riley, Kansas. I served until 1992 when I left the service as a Captain.
The subjects I am teaching for the 2014-2015 school year are U.S. History, College/Honors U.S. Government and Early American History, Life in the 1960s, American Government, Oklahoma History, World Geography/History, and Leadership. I am the high school cheer and dance coach, and I also sponsor the Culture Club.
I am a Christian, and I attend church at the Coffeyville Church of Christ. I have 3 sisters, 11 nieces and nephews, one great nephew (Aiden), and one great niece (Ginny). I have a soft heart for ALL animals, and I believe that all creatures deserve someone to shed a few tears for them.
I absolutely love to read and one of these days I want to write my own book. One of my most serious encouragements to my students is to read read read.
